In the chapter "The Fun They Had" Tommy and Margie's schools were virtual and Margie seemed it boring. When Tommy found a book which belonged to his grandfather's grandfather. That book told them about the old schools.

In the old school students used to go to a specific building where a human teacher used to teach them and the student interacted with other students. The students used to play with each other. But in Tommy and Margie's time school were not in a building it was in a room. There was no physical teacher, there is a computer which is his/her 's teacher and used to teach them and take test/assignments. Schools in the older times were much fun than the schools in time of Tommy and Margie.
