Nicola-  Nicola is a 13 yrs old boy. He wore a worn out jersey and a cut of khaki pant . He is diligent worker. He takes care of his brother and ailing sister with motherly affection . He works with great sense of devotion with one mission ie, to cure their elder sister Lucia who was suffering from tuberculosis .With is rebellious spirit he faces  life stoically .Nicola indulges in self pity despite poverty.

Jacopo- Jacopo is 12 yrs . He is very innocent . He carries an air of seriousness that seems beyond his years .He works with equal diligence as that of Nicola .he shares responsibilities and common interest to cure elder sister with Nicola. He has a good demeanour.jacopo was as lively as a squirrel.
