He is one of the main protagonists of the story. He is a loyal and trustworthy friend as he looked after Jumman's household when he travelled abroad. He is also kind and sympathetic as he feels pity for Jumman's aunt when she came to him to seek help. Though not a learned man, he has learnt many things from his experiences. The verdict pronounced by him shows his preference for truth and justice to friendship. he has a forgiving nature too.
