Character Sketch of APJ Abdul Kalam from the chapter 'My Childhood'
APJ Abdul Kalam described himself as a short boy with common looks. He was one of the children born in a middle class family. He was a very hard-working person and had an ambitious personality. He wanted to learn and explore things. He was very interested in studying and used to sit in the front of the class.
He was very proud of his first earning which tells that he wanted to be self-dependent. He "did not believe" in dividing society on "the basis of" religion, caste or class. He says that he had acquired "honesty and self-discipline" from his father and deep kindness and "faith in goodness" from his mother. He wanted to fly and explore like a bird.
