coachman Ali is very loving & caring to his daughter. he waits patiently to his daughter's letter & he gave his gold coins to clerk lakshmi das becoz he know that he s going to die. he s a good hunter & a coach after when his daughter left him he left everything & realized d relationship b/w father & daughter.

The chapter deals with the story of a old young man Ali who went to the post office daily in search for his daughter's letter.

Ali was a brilliant hunter who left hunting after he realized the pain behind separation. He had only one daughter Miriam who went to Punjab after her marriage and Ali was left all alone.

He went to the post office daily in hope of getting a letter from her daughter but unfortunately was never able to get it.
