Devadatta is an intellectual and is the only child of the respected Brahmin Vidyasagara. He is both a pundit and a poet. He knows to recite the Vedas backwards and writes some of the best poetry. However, he is quite sentimental and emotional.

Devadatta is a fragile fair-complexioned person with long dark hair. He is twenty years old and is five feet seven inches tall.
