Ferdinand the prince of Naples and son of King Alonso.
He is separated from his father on a deserted island and led to believe his father died after the shipwrecked.
He meets Miranda and falls in love with her.
He easily reassures Prospero that he will respect Miranda's chastity and not violate the trust he has been given.
He agrees to become Prospero's servant for a span.
When he finds that his father is alive, Ferdinand immediately acknowledges his father's authority and informs his father of his obligation to Miranda.
Prospero finally declares him worthy, and the engagement is at last approved by both Prospero and Alonso.
