Gibbons was a person who was into natural history, once he was lying out in an open air and was thinking that he is alone there at the time of when he is about to doze he hears a voice of someone around sneezing and coughing and then was swearing himself he tried to look around to find if someone is near him but he couldn't find anyone, then he finally thought that there is an invisible man and he actually got really confused, and he couldn't relax as he was doing before because he got really curious and scared that he got up and ran towards the village as fast as he could. So this tells that Gibbons was a person who was scared of such things and is not very brave.

Gibbins was an amateur naturalist of the district. He was lying out in the open on a steep hillside. There was not a soul within a couple of miles of him, as he thought. While he was almost dozing, he heard him swearing savagely to himself. Gibbins looked all around, but saw nothing. Yet the voice was certainly there. It continued to swear in the manner of a cultivated man. It grew to a climax, diminished again and died away in the distance. Gibbons was not aware of that morning’s occurrences in Iping. He felt so disturbed by this strange

phenomenon that all his philosophical tranquility vanished. He got up hastily and hurried down the steep hill. He walked towards the village as fast as he could.
