sudha murthys grandmother is determined and emotional.she is determined because we know tht the grandmother was determined becos once she had made up her mind to study,she set a date by which she wanted to become literate and accomplished it through preservance and sincere hard work
we know that she was emotional as well as she felt embarassed and upset at not being able to read her favourite story when  her grand daughter had gone away to attend a wedding in a nearby village.
