Helen's maternal grandmother. Helen's aunt's name was Evelyn and from the description in Chapter 3, she comes across as a very considerate and kind lady. She made a make-shiftdoll for Helen during the journey to Baltimore, out of towels. The doll was made without any features, so when Helen wanted to take two buttons out of her Aunt's dress to put eyes on herDoll, she agreed and understood what Helen wanted and did so promptly. This shows that Evelyn had a kind heart and she loved Helen dearly.
