The story ‘After Twenty Years’ revolves around two main characters Jimmy Wells and Silky Bob.
In the story Jimmy Wells is a policeman. He is tough and sturdy in his looks. He is an honest policeman and has maintained his loyalty towards his job. Personally too he is a great friend and a noble person because though he knew his friend was a wanted criminal he visited his friend as promised.
Silky Bob is a wanted criminal and has been dodging the police for many years. Despite all these flaws, he doesn’t seem to get over his love for his friend as he wouldn’t stop praising his friend Jimmy unaware of the fact that Jimmy is a cop looking to catch criminals like him.

in After twenty years as the Bob is the main character he is described to be like a rich man. Also it's comes to know from the lines of story that he was a successful driver man . And when the climax of the story reached it was revealed that he was actually ha wanted man as the story described him as "silky Bob".
Also Jimmy wells character was a police man but you can see that through out the story at was revolved around Bob and Jimmy friendship so Jimmy was just a antagonists . Jimmy was more loyal to the police than his friend so this show his dedication for the police. Afterall, he did have arrest Bob as the police man,

- Quick thinker- As soon as Jimmy discovers that his friend is a criminal, he acts quickly. He leaves Bob standing there and sends another cop to handle the situation.
- Morally upright- Jimmy is a principled man. He does not arrest his friend himself, but he also does not fail in his duties as a cop.
