In "The Fun They Had", Margie is 11 years old, a little girl who lives in the 21st century has a habit of writing diary entry daily. Margie is taught at home by a mechanical teacher and she hates her mechanical teacher and school. From her brother, Tommy, she will's to know about the old day school and the teachers in that school. From her conversation with Tommy she comes to know that earlier there were specialised building known as schools and were taught by human beings in a form of teacher. Through this conversation, we come to know Margie as naive and having little knowledge about the schools.
