Mehmood is an old man who has a grandson, Ali. Ali is flying a kite on the rooftop when Mehmood thinks about the change which has happened in the world. He was a kite maker and used to make kites as his profession. He constantly compares the situation in the old days and the present world. He has two sons, one works in the garage and the other remained in Pakistan during the separation of the country. He feels very pleased to see his grandson Ali growing. He constantly compares himself to the old banyan tree which has turned old, stooped and the has twisted branches like his body has become old.

Answer:

Mehmood was a very old person who was from the time of Nawabs. He had two sons, one stuck in Pakistan due to the partition and the other staying close by. He had  a close relationship with his grandson Ali. They had a strong understanding. Mehmood can also be compared to the ancient banyan tree with his hands twisted like the roots of the tree. He was a person who didn't like the struggling modern world where people cared only for themselves and money, rather he liked the past world where people cared for all and had free time and people didn't run behind money. I hope it helps you : ) - Shreya Bhattacharya
