- Martha Washington was a young coloured girl. She was the daughter of the woman who served as a cook in the Keller family. She was a constant companion to Helen and understood most of the signs that Helen used.
- Both of them were very mischievous. Helen enjoyed dominating her in child's play.
-They used to spend a lot of time together in the kitchen. They used to grind the coffee, knead the dough, help in making ice creams, etc.
-They enjoyed feeding the hens and Turkeys. It was their favorite pastime.
An example of their mischievous nature is given by Helen in her autobiography.
-Once Helen cut off Martha's hair and when Martha was going to chop of Helen's hair, she was saved in time by her mother.
-This way, we can say that Martha was a great companion to Helen in her early childhood.
Hope it helps!! I am posting it in a point-wise format so it will be easier to learn!
