munoo is a character in the famous novel 'coolie' of mulk raj amand who is considered as the 'Charles dickens' of india. the writer often writes about the plight of poor people , people of lower castes and the so called 'untouchables'
the story depicts that munoo is a young hill boy who is dragged into the plains when he was just fourteen , in the false hope of going to work and seeing the world . he is a helpless unskilled laborer . he holds a number of positions like- home servant , rickshaw driver and a factory worker.
the writer also tells that some people regard the 'coolies' as low casted people and untouchables even though,they cannot even imagine doing the work which they do without even acknowledging and complaining about it
he situation is deplorable due to poverty and exploitation aided by social and political structures.
