Mr Anagnos was the director of the Perkins Institution for the Blind in Boston. He was a very amiable, friendly, warm and helpful person. When Helen's father wrote to him seeking help in his daughter's case, Mr Anagnos was kind enough to reply quickly. This shows his concern for others and his willingness to provide help wherever possible. He even took the trouble to arrange for a teacher for little Helen. His choice of Anne Sullivan as Helen's teacher was perfect as was seen from the progress Helen made with Anne Sullivan's guidance.

Mr Anagnos was extremely fond of Helen and loved her a lot. Even Helen respected his daughterly affection so much that when she wrote her first story "The Frost King" she dedicated it to Mr Anagnos. Mr Anagnos was delighted with the story and published it in one of the Perkins Institution reports. Though Mr Anagnos loved Helen he did not trust her. When Helen was charged with plagiarism, Mr Anagnos was greatly troubled. Though he initially seem to believe Helen, he later suspected that Miss Sullivan and Helen had knowingly copy the ideas of another author and force these on him to win his admiration .He felt cheated and hurt and not care for Helen's pleadings of love and innocence .Nothing was proved against Helen and things return to normal

However Helen was so hurt and humiliated that she felt that her relationship with Mr Anagnos would never be the same again.
