• Mr Herriot is a veterinary doctor. He is very kind and gentle with animals. When he sees the condition of Tricki, he is worried. He is also well educated in his profession, when he saw tricki and warned mrs Pumphrey for the second time he was sure that he would be receiving a call from mrs pumphry regarding tricki, he even knew that what tricki needed was not any medical treatment but he had to be taken out of his house ,he should start interacting with other dogs,get exercise ,eat right amounts to become healthier .he didn’t use any of the food or supplies sent by mrs Pumphrey rather he & his friend enjoyed the eggs,wine and brandy mrs Pumphrey sent for tricki,by this we come to know that mr. herriot is not wealthier than mrs Pumphrey ,he takes advantage of the situation to get such items that usually he wouldn’t be able to get for himself so regularly ,we also get to know this as while he was taking tricki away mrs Pumphrey had packed so many things for tricki that it wouldn’t fit in mr Herriot’s car so he quickly started driving away. we see Mr Herriot's determination to help the animals.
