Answer:

Dr. Cuss is a doctor living in the town of Iping. Intrigued by tales of a bandaged stranger staying at the Coach and Horses Inn, Dr. Cuss goes to see him under the pretence of asking for a donation to the nurse’s fund. The strange man, Griffin, scares Cuss away by pinching his nose with his invisible hand.

Mr Cuss thinks he is smart and devises a plan to arrange an interview with the stranger just to gain more information about him. However, he is scared out of his wits when Griffin shows him his empty sleeve. At first he behaves boldly, but runs away when Griffin tweaks his nose by the invisible hand. Though scared, he reacts rationally after coming to his senses. Mr Cuss thinks that he had probably gone mad or insane. Later, we see his investigative nature also. He tried to decipher Griffin’s book with the help of Mr Bunting.
