The car of Mriganko Babu, a famous author, came to a halt at the middle of the road as his car runs out of petrol.
He sends his driver Sudheer for collection of petrol.Babu was returning from Durgapur to Kolkatawhere he was honoured for his work.
He lights a cigarette and starts observing the surroundings, miles of barren lands. There are two huts seen with no people.
He found a scarecrow in the middle of the field. Mriganko Babu returns to his car and starts reading a novel.
He became disgusted in the car and came out of the car and stood on the road.
He looked again at the scarecrow.He looked at the scarecrow again.
It was anormal scarecrow wearing a torn, red and black printed shirt which he reminds him their ex-servant wearing it someone wearing that shirt.
He drank some tea from the flask and noticed some change in the appearance of the scarecrow and became scared.
It slowly took the shape of their ex-servant Aviram who was sacked for stealing Babu’s watch.
Mriganko Babu recollects that Abhiram’s hometown was at that place.
Abhiram said that he was quite innocent and questions Babu why he did not accept his innocence and sacked him from their domestic job as per the advice of a witch doctor.
Abhiram worked as a home worker to Babu for decades. Abhiram starts speaking again.
He asks Babu to search under his wardrobe after going home, where watch has been lying there all these 3 years.
He told Babu that his innocence will be proved when Babu finds the watch.
Abhiram says that he found peace and relief as he told the truth bids goodbye to Babu and disappeared.
Mriganko Babu wakes up to Sudheer’s voice. He finds himself sitting in the car.
He looks at the scarecrow and it is standing there in the distance as it was.
On reaching home, he found his gold watch there.
He decides that from now on, even if something ever gets stolen from his house, he would go to a witch doctor.
Mriganko Babu repented that despite being an author, he hasn’t evolved he could not become a complete human being.
