MRS.PACKLETIDE:-

Mrs. packletide is a shallow, vain and ostentatious women most of whose activities are dictated by her emotions of jealousy, ill-will and bitterness against loona bimberton - her arch rival. she is exceptional . This woman with no principles in life stoops down to bribe the villagers to look for duch an old, infirm tiger who would get killed without any fuss. After the shooting, she shamely lets the press give her ample coverage despite knowing that rather than proving her mettle by killing the tiger, she had made a fool of herself by killing the goat. She humiliates loona bimberton by purposely sending her tiger-claw brooch on her birthday. Her proposed luncheon-party to be thrown in loona's honour is actually an exercise in embarrssing and mortifying her by exhibiting the superiority of her feat.


LOUISA MEBBIN:-

Louisa Mebbin was a very shrewd and cunning character who knew how to grab a chance to gain wealth as and when opportunity knocked at her door. She can be called an opportunist. Louisa Mebbin here uses a tone of blackmail of revealing Mrs. Packletide 's secret of killing a tiger, just to extract some wealth from Mrs. Packletide. Mebbin persuade her to buy her a weekend cottage so that she keeps mum about the entire episode of whether Mrs. Packletide killed the tiger or did it die of a heart attack.

Mrs. Packletide is an ambitious lady.She has an intention of killing a tiger, not for pleasure but to outshine her opponent Loona Bimberton who had recently been carried eleven miles in an aeroplane by an algerian aviator and is bragging about it.She soon gets an opportunity to kill an old tiger in a village.Miss Louisa Mebbin is the paid partner whom Mrs.packletide accompanies.she is a greedy woman and is not at all satisfied for the 1000 rupees she get for the job.when Mrs.packletide kills the goat and frightens the tiger to death,Miss mebbin blackmails her by saying that she would let Loona bimberton know the truth and to avoid that she needed the money for the week-end cottage she liked which costs high.Mrs.packletide has no other option but to pay her as she did not want her prestige lost.
