Character sketch of Natalya stepanova
Answers
Natalya as a character was a young girl of 25 years and was unmarried and lived near the house of a young unmarried guy. The girl is shown to be a perfect and on-point house keeper and was good with all the relative work that she would do. As for her appearance, she is projected as an average looking girl. She was craving and waiting for true love and dreams and wished for it in her life.
She was even referred to as a love-sick cat by her father. She was also of bad temper, ready to quarrel and was abusive in her conversations. In the story, as a reference she even had a bad fight and quarrel with Lomov- the boy who lived next to her and she tagged it as her inability to stand anything that is unfair or wrong though the incident reflected on her quarreling nature and bad temper. Another streak of duplicity is seen in her character as she regrets the quarrel and forgets the scale of being fair and true when she gets to know that the boy back then had come to propose her. She lacks content and is shown to be living an unstable and unhappy life with an unstable mind-set and nature.

Explanation:
Natalaya was a young unmarried girl of twenty five years. She lived in the neighbourhood of Lomov, a young unmarried man. She was an excellent housekeeper and was not bad looking. She was thirsting for love. Her father called her a lovesick cat. Lomov said that she was well educated, but she did not seem to be so. She was very quarrelsome and abusive by nature. She began a bitter quarrel with Lomov over a piece of land that had little value. She said that those meadows were not much worth to her but she could not stand unfairness. But when she learnt that Lomov had come to propose to her, she forgot all fairness and unfairness. She began to wail over the lost chance .She forced her father to call him back. But in no time, she started quarrelling with him again. It was on their dogs. Both claimed their respective dogs to be of a superior breed.
