He is uncertain about the other side of betrayal as the animals were dependent on him and instead of fulfilling his responsibilities he ran away leaving them behind and now he is disheartened and mentally drained due to the decision he has taken. Just like the goats he has nowhere to go and neither has anyone to support him,the only gamily he had was the animals who he had betrayed
