Oliver was a professor at the College at Chesilstowe where Griffin started studying and researching physics. Oliver was a scientific bounder, a journalist by instinct, a thief of ideas—he was always prying! Professor Oliver always pestered him by enquiring as ro when he was going to publish his findings about his research as he wanted to share the success of Griffin’s labour by having his name mentioned in the publication. However, Griffin did not want him to know about his research in the least. He wanted his success to be purely his. Finally he decided to carry his work all by himself for which he needed a lot of money.
