The postmaster in the story was a friendly fat person who initially laughed when the postman showed him the letter written by Lencho to God. However, he soon became serious and wished that he had the same faith and confidence to hope for starting a conversation with God like Lencho did.

The postmaster did not have the heart to reveal that the letter could not be delivered. So, he decided to open the letter and answer as if he was God. He did not step back when he saw what Lencho had asked from God. Collecting some money from his colleagues and putting in some himself, he put slightly more than half of the requested amount with a letter that had only the signature GOD in an envelope. When Lencho came over to the post office the next Sunday to check if he had a letter, the postman handed the envelope over personally with the happiness of a person who had done a good deed.
