Private Quelch was lanky and looked through his horn-rimmed spectacles. This physical appearance of his gave him a name called 'professor'. He was physically fit as he never went exhausted even after a walk of 130 miles. He also possessed immense knowledge and anyone who had doubts had them cleared in just 5 minutes. He knew everything in a subject and worked very hard for the stripe. But, there was a side of him too that is to be hated too. He never left a chance to show in front of his juniors and seniors. He also interrupted his teachers and humiliated his friends in front of everyone by correcting their mistake publicly. His nature of being 'too nice' was disliked by everyone and earned him a job as a cook in the kitchen.
