Redressal, was the
Principal Secretary of private affairs, who made Gulliver familiar with the key
internal and external affairs of the Lilliput. The Emperor of Lilliput used him as a messenger to communicate with Gulliver. When Lilliput was in danger of being invaded by the navy of Blefuscu, the Emperor sent his request for Gulliver's help, to which he readily agreed. Later on when, Gulliver was impeached, and the possibility of capital punishment was being discussed, it was he who appealed the Emperor to show lenity. He suggested to the Emperor to make Gulliver blind in place of having him murdered. He further suggested to the Emperor that the huge cost of money being spent on Gulliver could be saved by starving him gradually after making him blind. The starvation would render Gulliver thinner and it would be easier to get rid of him. Gulliver was shocked to know all this from a well-wisher courtier. He decided to leave Lilliput secretly and take temporary refuge in the kingdom of Blefuscu.
