Answer:

British cosmologist Stephen William Hawking was born in England on Jan. 8, 1942 — 300 years to the day after the death of the astronomer Galileo Galilei. He attended University College, Oxford, where he studied physics, despite his father's urging to focus on medicine.

Professor Hawking never took one day of his life for granted — the good, the bad and the ugly. He woke-up each morning and just went for it. While he wrote about the past, present and future — he lived in the now and he embraced uncertainty. He also famously said “intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.”

The world lost one of its most brilliant scientific minds Wednesday, when legendary physicist Stephen Hawking died at age 76. Hawking's cause of death was likely amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, a neurodegenerative disease that wears away at nerve and muscle function over time.

Since then, Hawking has achieved the feat of writing emails, browsing the internet, writing books and speaking using only one muscle. Nevertheless, his ability to communicate continued to decline.

the sad thing is,

Stephen Hawking won accolades from his peers for having one of the most brilliant minds in science, but he never got a Nobel Prize because no one has yet proven his ideas. The Nobel committee looks for proof, not big ideas.

but,

And just in case all that isn't enough, Lydia achieved the highest possible score — 162 — on her Mensa IQ test. That's higher than celebrated physicists Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein, who scored 160.
