Teddy Henfrey is quite inquisitive by nature and tries to find out more about the stranger. He purposely tries to work slowly. But the silence in the room makes him nervous. He tries to talk but gets snubbed by Griffin. This irritated him a lot. He is also a gossip. When he couldn’t find anything more about the stranger, he started spreading rumours about him. He has a suspecting nature. Teddy Henfrey was the one who said that the stranger was perhaps wanted by the police and that is why he kept himself covered.
Mr Teddy Henfrey is a clock-repairer and he arrives at the inn in the bitter cold. Mrs Hall uses this opportunity to take him to the stranger’s room to repair the clock in the room. Mrs Hall opens the door without knocking and in the dim light notices the stranger. She is amazed to see that the stranger had no lower jaw or had a giant mouth. However, she thinks that the dim lights have deceived her.
