This is quite a dark and cautionary tale of the Spider that lures the innocent Fly into his web. It was originally written to warn children about the dangers of trusting strangers, as their kind words may be deceiving. The illustrations in this book compliment the poem and are very powerful images. They are able to evoke emotions in the reader by use of hue, compositional patterns, space and proportion, sequencing, light and cartoon conventions.
