Jane Martlet is a character in the play, "The Miracle Merchant" by H.H.Munro.
Jane Martlet was the niece and guest of Mrs. Beauwhistle, a wealthy woman.
She had the habit of staying a fortnight, in any guest home, that she visited.
She was not a friendly and sociable person, which can be seen from the story that she already had a quarrel with Dora, who was also coming to stay with Mrs.Beauwhistle.
She was cowardly and fearful and so it was easy for Louis to fool her. Louis made her believe that a ghost was in the home of Mrs.Beauwhistle and thus made her leave the home.
