Whenever someone says 'J.K.Rowling' the picture that comes to our mind is that of a millionaire and the author of the blockbuster Harry Potter series. However, this is not who she is. Under a coating of a cheerful smile there lies a brave woman who had refused to learn the meaning of the word - quit.
When she was just 20, her mother left her after a10 year battle with Multiple sclerosis, never to return again. After that, she left the depressing Scotland for Portugal and started teaching English. Before that she had lost more than 5 jobs but she went on , not wanting to give up.
In Portugal, she married a journalist, Jorge Arantes , but they split up after 1 year 1 month and a day. With a little baby and no job, she was succumbed to severe depression and she wanted to end her life. Yet, she took up a pen and a napkin and started writing. Even after being rejected by her publisher she did not lose hope and became what she is today. This is J.K. Rowling, the heroine of your childhood.
