It is true that characteristics are under the control of genes .

But the traits are also of many types like as acquired trait and inherited trait .

Only inherited traits are under the control of genes .
Fir ex :- Height , shape of ear , structure nose , hair texture , and many more .

Acquired traits are those which we get from external environment . These trait are nit under the control of genes .
Fir example :- nature , behaviour , intelligency , talant , complexion and many more .

So , characters are under the control if genes but not all .
