Characteristic feature of deuteromycetes is absense of sexual reproduction and thats why its called fungi imperfecti because no form of sexual reproduction has been reported. Thats why its also sometimes called an artifical class because if any member is later found to exhibit any form of sexual reproduction it is shifted to ascomycetes or basidiomycetes.


Example include Trichoderma rubrilinenis causing red rot of sugarcane,

Alternaria solani causing early blight of potato
