The main characteristics of cartilages are as follows:

1. It is composed of special cells called chondrocytes.

2. It ha no blood vessels and nutrition of the cells diffuse through the matrix.

3. It has no nerves.

4.It is surrounded by a fibrous membrane called perichondrium.

5. Human cargilages harvested from the patients 5 to 17 years age.

6. In cartilages matrix, calcium salts are not present.
