Characteristics of living things involve

- Consciousness of their surrounding

- They reproduce for the survival of their species

- The eat food to gain energy-

- There are many complex chemical reactions involved in the functioning of the living organisms.

- Most living organisms need air to survive.

Some examples of living things are - dogs, cats, plants, cows, humans, etc

Those things that do not have consciousness and do not breathe, reproduce or interact in with their surroundings are known as non living things.

Characteristics of non living things are-

- They do not move without the help of external force.

- they do not reproduce.

- They do not breathe air

- they do not eat food or excrete.

- They are not conscious towards there surrounds.

- They do not possess free will

Some examples of non living things are- cars, houses, rocks, bridges, ships, etc
