Mastigophora is a division of single-celled protozoans. There are approximately 1,500 species of Mastigophora. Their habitat includes fresh and marine waters. Most of these species are capable of self-propelled movement through the motion of one or several flagella.
Characteristics of mastigophora are as follows:-
1. Members of this class are parasitic animals.
2. All the members are free living.
3. Are seen in water hence they are the aquatic animals.
4. Thread like structure is present on their body which is used as locomotive organelles.
5. Flagella may be 1, 2 or even more than two.
6. Body in them is covered by pellicle.
7. Sexual reproduction is a not found reproduction goes via binary fission process.
