Metals- Metals are malleable, ductile, good conductors of heat and electricity, lustrous, usually strong,sonorous,generally hard.

Non Metals- Non metals are brittle, not ductile, poor conductors of heat and electricity, dull, not strong, not sonorous, quite soft.

Metals-

• Metals react with oxygen to form metal oxides. Metal oxides are basic in nature.

• When a metal reacts with water, then a metal hydroxide and hydrogen gas are formed.

• Most of the metals react with dilute acids to form salts and hydrogen gas.

• Some metals react with bases to form salts and hydrogen gas.

Non metals-

• Non metals react with oxygen to form non-metal oxides.Non metal oxides are acidic in nature.

• Non metals do not react with water, dilute acids.

• Some non-metals react with bases (like sodium hydroxide) but no hydrogen gas is produced.
