A banyan tree has a heavy and broad stem, which when combined with the aerial roots of the tree becomes even more thick and broad.
The stem of The Banyan tree can grow on its own from the seed whereas it can also grow on any other host plant over which its seed lands and germinates.
The Banyan Tree has aerial roots which means that the roots of the tree hand down from the branches and overtime these roots penetrate into the soil and become a part of the stem of the tree and are indistinguishable.
