Characteristics of Viruses
Though the details of virus infection and replication vary greatly with host type, all viruses share 6 basic steps in their replication cycles. These are:
1) attachment;
2) penetration;
3) uncoating;
4) replication;
5) assembly;
6)release.
As shown in , the virus must first attach itself to the host cell.

ANSWER :-
A few of the many characteristic features of viruses are listed below :-
- Viruses are sub-microscpoic organisms.
- Most of the viruses that are known, are generally found to be less that 200 mu in size.
- Viruses are obligate pasrasites.
- Viruses can be alive only for the time that they are inside a h o s t. They are not considered living while they exist in the outside or the environment on their own.
- Viruses can either have RNA (Ribonucleic Acid) or DNA (Deoxy-ribonucleic acid).
- Viruses can not be filtered out using bacterial filters because they can easily p a s s through filters of such sorts.
- Once a virus enters into a cell of a h o s t’s body, it takes complete control over the whole biochemical machinery that is present inside the h o s t cell and thus the h o s t cell then begins to synthesise virus particles instead of carrying out its normal activities.
