Mrs Otis was the wife of Mr. Otis , the American Minister. Before her marriage , she was Miss Lucretia R Tappan and had been a celebrated New York Belle.
Mrs. Otis was very beautiful lady. she had fine eyes and excellent face. she was a bold lady and was not afraid of Ghosts. She ordered to remove the blood-stain on the library floor. when she heard the ghost's horrible laugh , she gave him a bottle of Doctor Dobell's tincture and said if it was indigestion , it would cure him.
she was an affectionate mother. When Virginia could not be found , she went into deep depression . she was almost out of her mind with terror and anxiety and laid on sofa in the library. when Virginia appeared, she clapsed her passionately in her arms.
Mrs Otis could identify the gems and was a good judge of precious stones. Mr. Otis told Lord canterville that Mrs. Otis had informed him that the gems given to Virginia by the ghost had a of great monetary value.
