The famous book “My Childhood” is a summarized version of the autobiographical, ‘Wings of Fire’.

The author is   A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Here Dr. Kalam, the 14th President of India enumerated his childhood days here.

His journey from a middle-class family in Rameswaram to the President’s house was spotted with great obstructions.

His father was not rich but honest person and provided a secured childhood to Abdul.

Abdul derived honesty and self-discipline from him.

He was also greatly influenced by his science teacher, Sivasubramania Ayer.

The lesson of breaking social barriers was taught by his science teacher Ayer sir.

Ayer invited Abdul to his home for a meal. Wife of Ayer was a strict follower of castism as she was a Brahmin.

She refused to serve food to a Muslim Abdul.

Ayer served him with his own hand and sat down beside him to eat his meal.

He convinced his wife to serve the meal with her own hands and thus was successful in changing her attitude.
