Oliver Wendell Holmes was an American physician, professor, lecturer, inventor, writer and poet. He was a lover of books. He had invited Miss Sullivan and Helen to visit him. He was deeply impressed by Helen's ability to memorize and recite poems like 'The Chambered Nautilus'. He noticed that she was fond of books and reading. After that they met several times and shared their love for literature.
