The King’s foolishness was rivalled only by his minister who was an equal. partner in the foolish orders passed by the king. The king consulted him on different matters but the minister could never give any sane advice. He would be as irrational as the king himself. It was the minister’s idea to find a fat man who fitted the stake so that the order of execution could be put through. The killing of the minister does not rouse any sympathy

The king in the Kingdom of Fools was a big fool himself. As a result, he laid various foolish orders for his subjects with the help of his equally stupid minister. For example, once he ordered that the people in his kingdom sleep throughout the day and stay awake at night. In another instance, the king also did not have the brains to realize that he would die if he followed what a guru who had just come to the kingdom with his disciple. He blindly believed the guru when the latter said that the first person to be executed on a particula
r stake would be reborn as a king. He wanted to die first and insisted on getting executed first
