Mr. Arthur Gilman was the principal of Cambridge school of young Ladies. He was a kind and able teacher. Helen entered Cambridge School, to be prepared for Radcliffe.Out of generosity he let Mildred, Helen's sister, study at Cambridge. He was present for Helen as teacher, Interpreter and mentor. He took time out to read Shakespeare's "As you like it" with her. He was a teacher who made study interesting for Helen. However, due to different opinion on Helen's preparing period for college, and misunderstanding with Miss Sullivan, their friendship came to an end
