Character Analysis
van Daan The Man
The whole van Daan clan (say that five times fast) was actually the van Pels family. Mr. van Daan’s actual historical name is Hermann van Pels.

And that's about all we know about him.

Mr. van Daan is rarely mentioned in Anne’s diary, except when he is fighting with his wife or trying to pacify her. We get the impression that he’s your stereotypical "hen-pecked husband," with occasional bouts of standing up for himself. He shows his usefulness when the family receives a large amount of meat. Formerly in the meat business, he grinds the meat and makes sausage so it can be preserved.

Mrs Van daan belonged to the family that went went into hiding with the franks .She was the only person that anne couldn't stand. She was very quarrelsome and selfish .Mostly she instigated the fights .She got angry over trifles .Mrs Van daan was very vain and lacking in humility . She was in habit of hiding things so that other people couldn't use it. Mrs vandaan was also in habit of criticizing others .She was always getting mad at anne's talking to much. She was lazy by nature and always shrinked worked .She always trying to avoid doing the dishes Mrs vandaan liked to flirt with mr.otto frank while with her husband , she was always cross. All this made anne believe that like her mother, Mrs vandaan too lacked motherly skills .
