John a pescud was a hypocrite. He didn't believe in romantism but his life was one of it. He said the narrator that romance is only in books not in real life. But actually he got his wife as a result of love. He believed that a man would marry a girl of his same station. But he was a salesman and his wife hailed from a Royal Family.
