the play opens, he is dressed in a lounge suit and a great coat. He talks in a
cultured voice and his demeanour is confident. Gerrard is smart, humorous,
confident, witty and clever. When the intruder breaks into his cottage, he does
not lose his patience and confidence. He cooks up a story, convinces the
intruder and gets rid of him. He shows his intelligence and presence of mind.
He is nonchalant also.
The intruder is smart, beautiful, flashy, clever and confident. He collects much
information about Gerrard and plans his visit meticulously. He wears flashy
clothes. He has the ability to make someone afraid of him. Moreover he is
witty and answers Gerrard’s questions intelligently and sarcastically.
