FROM COULOMB'S LAW

THE force of attraction between two charge particles q1 and q2......is....

f =  \frac{1}{4\pi \: eo}  \times  \frac{q1 \times q2}{r {}^{2} }

NOW IN CGS SYSTEM

 eo = \frac{1}{4\pi}

so..

f =  \frac{q1 \times q2}{r {}^{2} }

now...in cgs system the unit of charge is esu

(e.s.u=Electrostatic unit)

what is 1 esu charge?

logic:f=1 dyn,q1=q2=q(let);r=1cm...

then ,,q=+-1

ans:

if two point charges are placed at 1cm distance from each other,and if the force between them is 1 dyn .then the point charge will be called 1 esu charge.

1esu=1 statC(stat coulomb)

FOR SI SYSTEM

f =  \frac{1}{4\pi \: eo}  \times  \frac{q1 \times q2}{r {}^{2} }

now if ...f=1 N;q1=q2=q(let)...r=1m..then...

q=+-1 Coulomb

What is 1C charge??

ans

if two point charges are placed at 1m distance from each other,and if the force between them is 1 N .then the point charge will be called 1 Coff course charge.

1C=3×10^9 esu.....

therefore....

1e = 1.6 \times 10 {}^{ - 19} c = 4.8 \times 10 {}^{ - 10} esu
