Charging by Induction refers to transfer of charges from one body to another without any physical contact. It takes place rarely in case when a body is charged massively through impurities present in Air. The best possible example of charging by induction is the lightning. When a cloud is carrying many charges in the sky and does not get any medium to transfer its charges to another cloud or anything, the charge is transferred to the earth via air. Since air is an insulator, The impurities present in air conduct the charge.
