Induction involves bringing the positively or negatively charged end of a charged object where charge distribution has taken place very close to a neutral object.

If the negatively charged end of the charged object is brought close to the neutral object, the closer end of the neutral object becomes positively charged as free electrons move to the other end leaving behind protons, the farther end becomes negatively charged.

If the positively charged end of the charged object is brought close to the neutral object, the closer end of the neutral object becomes negatively charged as free electrons move towards this end leaving the farther end positively charged.

SO, THE CLOSER END OF THE NEUTRAL OBJECT DEVELOPS A CHARGE OPPOSITE TO THE CHARGE ON THE CLOSER END OF THE CHARGED OBJECT IN INDUCTION.
